A few years ago I was fortunate to have met Cornelia Parker through the Eigen+Art Gallery of Liepzig Germany. I was working with them helping to install exhibitions in a temporary gallery space located in the Soho area of New York City. Below is a photo of the installation which I helped Cornelia install. It was really a wonderful work to behold. And the story behind the work fascinated me. Cornelia had been awarded a grant in the United Kingdom, and she took the grant money to the bank and had it cashed out in 1£ coin. She took the sacks of coin to a rail road track and lined up the coin and waited for the train to do it's work. We spent a solid two days stringing up all the coins to a suspended grid which was in the form of two human figures. The final installation was reminiscent of funeral statuary usually seen in the crypt of a cathedral.
